Fortification in Romania

I found this nice presentation of medieval castles, fortified churches and even medieval towns like Sighisoara. Most of the Romania's fortified churches were built back in the XIII-th and XIV-th century, to protect the villagers from attacks that were quite frequent at that time.

My personal favorites are Slimnic (00:21) and Cisnadioara (not presented here).

Nice, sadly most of them (well, there are a lot of them) remain unknown to most of the visitors. On the same theme, a photo gallery with 70 Saxon fortified churches in Transylvania - Shooting at the Gates

Very nice pictures, Alex. Seems like the photo raid was a rewarding experience.
I appreciate you, the guys DorDeDuca for the very beautiful and useful site. I follow it since the beginning and keep coming back to it from time to time :)
